Salman Khan turns 43, looks forward to an eventful 2009

After a year of new milestones and a few setbacks, Salman Khan looks forward to 2009 with renewed vigour as he turns 43 on Saturday.
The most eligible bachelor of Hindi film industry and, as some would say, the most “misunderstood” actor of Bollywood, turns a year older today. Salman Khan, the capricious Capricorn, the moody star, and the pin-up boy of both his female and male fans, still continues to ooze that endearing charm that we saw two decades back in Maine Pyar Kiya .
Today, in the pantheon of Bollywood celebrities, Salman holds his place formidable among the top trimurti – the Khan troika – even though his last few releases may have turned out box office turkeys.
Be it God Tussi Great Ho , or Hello , or Heroes or the much-hyped Yuvvraaj , none of Salman’s films worked at the box-office in 2008. On the contrary, the star shone on the small screen with his ‘Dus Ka Dum’ and got better TRPs than his fierce contender Shahrukh Khan .
Which brings us to the famous spat between Salman and SRK on Katrina Kaif ’s birthday this year. The two stars have had their differences in the past, but this time it got real serious as the duo almost came to blows – as reports say – over an argument, the root of which none seems to know, or reveal at least.
After the spat many believed that Salman would prevent his ladylove Katrina Kaif from joining SRK on his ‘Temptations Reloaded’ tour, but Salman did not do so. Nor did Salman favour any attempts to forge a compromise with SRK.
On the personal front, however, the star achieved a few milestones. He penned a story which is now being made into a film called Veer . He painted a good number of paintings and even made a few canvases of Aamir Khan in his Ghajini look.
As 2008 draws to a close and 2009 is about to begin, Salman looks forward to a couple of big projects. The coming year would see Sallu in at least four mega movies – London Dreams , Veer , Main Aur Mrs Khanna and Wanted Dead And Alive .
Here’s wishing you a very happy birthday, Salman.
